City College of San Francisco
Intranet & Internet GIS Development

Challenge:
The City College of San Francisco needed a web based facility management system to help conform to guidelines in ADA compliance.
Solution Approach:
The work involved creating enterprise system for facility management. ValueCAD designed the database using ESRI FM model ArcSDE and Oracle 10g2. We also mapped all the Plan drawings for all floors and buildings at seven campuses, as well as mapping the underground and overhead utilities. The features were tagged with attributes obtained from the source drawings and data collected during field investigations. Enhanced tool tips were developed for ease of use in this application. Recently we developed the same application using the ArcGIS Server javascript API. The future development includes the inside buildings routing and 3D GIS for facilities.
The mapping was done in AutoCAD Map 3D and the deliverable was an oracle based geodatabase in ArcSDE 9.3. This initial effort was followed by the creation of a web based system using ESRI ArcGIS server enterprise and SDE with Oracle database for external users.
User Access and Benefits:
Using the web based application, students may search for room, building, points of interest, such as gym, etc. It also gives the users the ability to search for instructors and professors for classes. The system creates detailed reports about rooms and their facilities with the picture of the room.
